In Project STOP’s 2.5 million dollar design, we have implement programming that provides: prevention and treatment services; ongoing community discovery and assessment processes; linkage to care functions that will improve access to treatment and medical care for HIV, SUDs, and CODs; case-management services to support BMSM/Trans women through the navigation of various treatment landscapes; mental health/substance misuse group level and individual level interventions; and capacity building services through our cultural competency curriculum that will enhance retention in programs, ensure improved access, and determine and fill the gaps in services to our target population. In my role as principal investigator, I oversee the implementation and evaluation of all program implementation activites.

In the short term, my role is to develop a comprehensive organizational assessment as well as a development plan. This role requires an extremely strong and visionary leader who can drive the organization through significant change while maintaining a passion for serving clients, engaging volunteers and donors, and maintaining the quality of its programs. I work closely with the Board creating a new, five-year strategic plan to identify long-term goals as well as the resources needed for successful implementation. As the new leader, I've devised a plan for raising the additional funds necessary to support a larger operation and serve a greater number of community members. In addition, as CEO I must still be knowledgeable about the needs of the customers including how they are referred and supported; understand the critical role of volunteers and connect with them; and have a thorough understanding of how to run a nonprofit, including financial best practices, human resources, and other areas that support operations. Building strong teams and mentoring staff will be at the core of what this role will do in order to be successful internally and externally.

In my clinical management role, I provide oversight for all behavioral health functions at Friend Family Health Center's 7 clinical settings. Provided on-site depression and substance abuse assessments, conducted comprehensive mental health initial assessments, provided individual short-term and crisis intervention counseling, facilitated group counseling and/or support groups, and initiated referrals for outpatient and inpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment. Worked with clinical trials unit and took several program manager tasks, i.e. evaluation of data and generation of program reports. Also, participated in HIV specialty team clinical staffing regarding mental health diagnosis, treatment planning, and the need psychotropic medication therapy as appropriate. Subsequently, conducted research and research analysis for culturally specific prevention programs. Utilized research results for enhancement of grant writing process. Coordinated AIDS/STD hotline implementation, monitoring and volunteer recruitment. Created and implemented various social marketing campaigns that targeted high risk populations for HIV infection.

Core Responsibilities: Developed social service plans and care plans for geriatric residents to assist in meeting behavioral, social and emotional needs. Also, provided therapeutic groups, intensive mental health counseling for residents and their families, and facilitated monthly in-service trainings and workshops for staff and affected families.
