I am a third year Mechanical Engineering Student at UBC. I am currently employed at Suncor Energy as part of my first eight month coop which started in May 2024. At Suncor, I am working as part of the Mobile Equipment Reliability Team to develop predictive models for shovel crack prediction and dynamic benchmarks for ropes. In addition, I am gaining a deep understanding of how to analyze failure modes on equipment critically to produce an accurate picture of the environment that lead to failure. Prior to starting my bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, I worked for four years as a geo tech at GeoPacific Consultants where I primarily did soil density testing using a nuclear density gauge. I had the opportunity to work in large construction site around the Greater Vancouver Area such as the Oakridge mall redevelopment. In addition, I performed soil anchor testing a subgrade compaction reviews. I have dual Canadian, United States citizenship and plan to move to the US after graduation. One of my favorite activities is to watch rocket launches that have become routine. I am part of the UBC Rocket design team and learning about the design of liquid rocket engine design and manufacturing as part of my team activities. The advances currently taking place in rocketry I find very inspiring and was a catalyst that pushed me to go to University and earn a full engineering degree. My passion for spaceflight and my idea of the future it enables is why I plan to move to the US to pursue a career in the growing US space industry. I believe the utilization of space has the potential to drastically change the world for the better and makes me very optimistic.
