In the role of UK Agile Referent, I acted as a focal point and facilitator for Agile transformation across engineering and the wider organisation (over 6,500 employees on 12 main development sites in the UK) with the aim of achieving faster delivery, higher quality and an improved customer experience. In charge of defining and aligning Training and Simulation's infrastructure and tooling strategy across the global business lines (BL) spanning the UK, France, Germany and Australia. Locally responsible (Training and Simulation UK) for process, tools, methods and performance plans within engineering.Discipline lead (8 direct reports) and local process correspondent for Software (74 indirect reports). Main focuses are on architecture and automation to streamline software development process. Part of the specialist engineering team dealing with software management and agile across the country business units. Key Achievements:• Created and presented E2 (Engineering Environment) strategy for the BL to Thales Group global management.• Lead transformation of agile (Scrum & Kanban) practices, tooling, and underlying virtualised infrastructure within TTS UK. Worked with key stakeholders outside of TTS (security, IT, senior management) to drive these changes through.• Creation and management of Engineering Performance Initiatives across the BL for Engineering Environment and Agile in the UK.• Have provided auditing and coaching support across the UK engineering businesses as a subject matter expert in the agile development methodology.

Working on distributed military simulation research projects (including standards definition) and as a work package manager on upgrades to a number of Tornado GR4 simulators.Design authority on a distributed weather server for military simulations (initially A400M) incorporating DIS standards.

Initially given responsibility for multi-weather systems and traffic simulation products that span all the civil and military baselines (B737, A320, A380, A400M etc.); I am the design authority for these systems (languages used: C, C++ and some C# for toolsets). Moved onto running an Air Traffic Control research and development project. This included work on voice recognition, ATC communiction and intelligent entities. Recently launched and presented the Air Traffic Control system at various trade shows and conferences.

Helped with the creation of a spin-out company (Khaydor) from the University of Wales Aberystwyth, the objective of which was to develop web based training systems for this and other Universities. Worked for the company full time in the holidays (shown by dates) and as part of my minor and major dissertations for the rest of the time.Worked on a part of the Tweek system which was designed around agile methodologies using the latest technologies including Struts, J2EE, EJB and Servlets.

Year in Industry Scheme:Initial 6 week training period covering UML, Ada ('83 and '95) and application specific training. I was part of a build team on a defence project, this involved building and testing the overall systems before MoD approval. Worked independently to improve the tracking of the build process by creating a new web based interface for the team.
