Cam Cameron is a partner in the Business Law Department of Gowling WLG's Ottawa office, practicing in the Firm’s Indigenous and Business Law Groups. Cam’s general practice focuses on commercial contracts, including licensing, distribution, collaboration, and funding agreements. His particular specialties include Indigenous commercial matters and gaming law. Cam regularly works with Indigenous communities (doing business on and off-reserve) on a variety of economic development matters that include joint ventures; this work includes negotiating and drafting impact benefit agreements and revenue sharing agreements. He also provides strategic legal advice, including duty to consult assessments for communities, Crown corporations and interested private entities. With respect to gaming law, Cam advises clients on gambling laws, including contests and sweepstakes. He also advises new participants entering the iGaming (online) market in Ontario – a province which established a new iGaming market in collaboration with private gaming companies in 2022. Cam also authors articles and delivers presentations on commercial matters, notably those affecting Indigenous peoples. He has been recognized for his corporate commercial and Indigenous law capabilities by Legal 500 Canada and the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory.
