- currently enjoying the new experience and perspectives associated with learning relevant front line health issues such as the struggles of keeping the elderly, disabled and convalescing in their homes - the population at Northern College are inspiring. I enjoy the comradeship of helping fellow students and sharing insights with faculty - the course is very all-encompassing from learning of infant illnesses to adolescent behaviour issues to adult onset disorders such as dementia and ALS; along with a process that emphasizes dignity, privacy and preference for the client while ensuring the care plan is followed and one keeps within their scope of practice

As a program manager (after 2005)• Program implementation for vector-borne diseases and infectious disease prevention and control program areas including inspections and ongoing community surveillance • Designed and executed the School- based Absenteeism Syndromic Surveillance Project with Upper Grand District School Board • Implemented terms of reference, coordinated, and documented West Nile virus management meetings to allow Southern Ontario public health managers to consult with each otherAs a Public Health Inspector (1990 - 2005)• Provided case management of reportable diseases and support for outbreak responses.• Conducted food safety and infection prevention and control inspections in urban and rural settings in food premises, long term care homes, licensed day nurseries and personal service settings,, rabies prevention program actiivites, outbreaks, private sewage system inspections, and complaints. • Helped field epidemiologists, managers and University of Guelph with outbreak report publications that included such events as the Parmalat Cheese Salmonella outbreak, Trichinosis in a wild boar farm and a Campylobacter antibiotic resistance study
