I first taught myself engineering when I was 11 years old; my dad brought home a book on HTML4 one night that piqued my interest and made me want to learn more.Today, I am a software engineer with experience in both front and back end products. As an engineer I enjoy the unique problems involved in solving and creating amazing applications. I have worked with Javascript, Node.js, Meteor, Angular, Express, PHP, Laravel, MySQL, and Mongo.Recently, I worked on a mobile chat application, developing the front end. During that time I worked on creating a user interface that was easy to use and fun for the iOS mobile platform. This included integrating results from YouTube, then embedding them into a message and using web sockets to enable real time messaging.As someone enjoys the Mandarin language, I also created an online Mandarin vocabulary tool for universities and high schools. It works by quizzing students on the definitions, phonetics (pinyin), and writing of various characters. In addition, teachers can track the students' performance on each quiz, create new quizzes, and manage multiple classes. The application, called Ci Hui, helps both classmates and teachers perform better in class and simplifies the process of preparing for tests.
