About Cameron Ahern

As a graduate student at the University of Maryland, I completed a master's degree in international relations and affairs, with a focus on international climate change policies. I wrote a capstone project on patterns of authoritarian climate change compliance, applying statistical methods and data analysis skills to address a relevant and complex research question.During the summer of 2022, I worked as a research assistant at the Center for International Development and Conflict Management (CIDCM), where I contributed to the extension of the Geocoded Conflict Population Movement (Geo-CPM) database. I sourced and transposed visual data from UN organizations, composed country profiles for the regions of Africa affected by conflict-based displacement, and used data analysis programs to automate and streamline the data processing tasks.I have also gained valuable experience in the communications and external affairs field, working as an intern at the International Republican Institute (IRI) and Act.IL, two organizations that promote democracy and human rights around the world. I developed skills in strategic planning, business development, stakeholder engagement, and drafting written products while engaging with diverse stakeholders and partners. I am passionate about advancing the causes of peace, justice, and development in developing countries as well as climate justice around the world.
