I am a recent M. Sc. graduate with a degree in Experimental Medicine from McGill University, in addition to a B. Sc. degree in Integrative Physiology from the University of Manitoba. During my undergraduate and graduate degrees, I have had the pleasure of overseeing several research projects in the scientific field. Specifically, during my M. Sc., I was charged with managing my own project on modifying murine genetics to alleviate symptoms of a rare bone disease. During my undergraduate degree, I worked on elucidating the mechanisms of taste receptor evolution in mammals using computer-based data-mining techniques. Taking on these projects allowed me to demonstrate my ability to coordinate several different tasks and troubleshoot/identify and develop new paths for projects; for example, I developed the CRISPR/Cas9 protocol that was used in our laboratory for producing genetic modifications in our cell-line models. In addition to my research-based skills, I am also adept at administrative duties within governmental and private-sector domains having worked at Manitoba Health and StudentCare (group insurance administrators for universities across Canada), respectively. Working at Manitoba Health, I arranged various epidemiological statistics for my superiors and reported weekly trends, to municipal, federal and provincial employees. I am also adept at producing briefing notes, meeting agendas and coordinating meetings. Furthermore, my tenure in the governmental domain has given allowed me to gain significant experience liaising with internal and external stakeholders and drafting policies. In general, I am an out-going, hard-working individual who can work within the context of a team as well as individually with equal efficiency. I am passionate about scientific outreach, and I am very interested scientific development, science/health policy and biotechnology. My ultimate career goal is to incorporate science outreach with scientific/health policy.
