The USMCA is the largest trade deal ever passed by the United States Congress and received historic bipartisan support in both the United States House and Senate. • Successfully led discussions with Congress to increase USTR’s total appropriations from roughly $53M to nearly $70M per year, plus an addition of nearly $90M in USMCA funds greatly increasing USTR’s ability to complete key functions.• Successfully led the Congressional outreach and messaging on the Trump Administration’s China trade policy and gained support of a large bipartisan majority in Congress enabling the policies to be more effective.• Played a vital role in the statutory process for numerous other negotiations with foreign countries including; Japan, Brazil, United Kingdom, European Union, Kenya, India, and many others. • Manage a team in Congressional Affairs and serve as liaison between the United States Congress and the Office of the United States Trade Representative. Generally, the position is to monitor, guide, facilitate, and implement all actions required by law or requested by Members of the United States Congress and their staffs.• Attend interagency meetings on behalf of USTR, including; full administration wide interagency meetings, policy coordinating meetings at the National Security Council, or senior level meetings among select trade related agencies or the White House.

In this capacity working closely with staff and members of the House Agriculture committee, as well as industry stakeholders, trade associations, constituents and other groups to advance the Congressman’s agenda.- Manage, advise, draft, negotiate and develop strategy on the 2014 Farm Bill Conference Committee to assure Congressman’s agenda would be enacted into law. Major accomplishments include; a revised cotton program, language to restrict over burdensome EPA rules regarding forest roads, a Price Loss Coverage Program, an FSIS catfish program, maintaining current peanut and sugar programs, numerous SNAP reforms including a work based state pilot program and dozens of other regulations all vital to agriculture. Signed into law 2/7/2014.- Responsible for a legislative portfolio by offering voting recommendations, writing constituent correspondence and letters to the Administration and other Congressional offices, take and staff meetings for the member in numerous issues including but not limited to: International Relations, Health Care, Transportation, Trade, Judiciary, Energy, Environment, Commerce, Communications, Agriculture and assist in committee work on Armed Services and Homeland Security.- Work with Chief of Staff and Member to build and develop coalitions for state outreach and develop Washington-based coalitions.
