Townsville

From 2014 to 2016, I developed and implemented marketing campaigns to grow awareness of the TAFE Queensland brand for the organisation’s website and online presence.I managed and maintained the TAFE Queensland North website, which included designing infographics and creating SEO content, as well as analysing website data. I also managed TAFE Queensland North’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. I regularly used my skills as photographer to create visually-engaging content. Additionally, I organised and directed external photographers and videographers.

Townsville, Australia

Since October 2013 I was a contributing journalist for the Townsville Bulletin, Ayr Advertiser, and Charters Towers Northern Miner. My roles including reporting as dedicated real-estate journalist for the Townsville Bulletin, as well as a general reporter focusing in particular on the police and emergency services.I also worked in Ayr as a senior reporter, mentoring younger staff while covering community news. I was also the primary contributor for the 2014 Townsville Shines booklet, John Gribbin Realty 21st Birthday, and various other features throughout the year.

Sydney, Australia

Reporting on media and marketing with a focus on creative agencies and the film industry. My role had me not only covering day-to-day releases, but also generating story ideas for longer-form pieces that would run in Mumbrella’s weekly sister publication, Encore. Such pieces included analysis of the film and media industry as well as larger, exclusive stories, many of which were picked up and run nationally. I also worked as a multi-media journalist for the website, producing a weekly Google Hangout with up to five participants in the studio, interstate, and even international connections. Each week I would create a podcast of the Hangout and use Final Cut Pro to edit the video, which would then be used in Encore. When the regular host for the Google Hangout was unavailable, I would take over and interview the subjects on air. Having extensive theatre experience helped me host the Hangouts smoothly.

Reporting on a wide range of issues for a bi-weekly newspaper, I covered several rounds including, but not limited to, police and emergency, civic reporting, politics, entertainment and arts. As a photographer, my works were used weekly, often as front page material. From January 2010, I was the paper’s dedicated entertainment reporter, writing feature articles on a variety of community events in and around Alice Springs, including the Adelaide Big Day Out, Wide Open Spaces Festival, Alice Springs Beanie Festival, ASSA Abloy Henley-On-Todd Regatta and the Alice Springs Show. I also covered the Triple J One Night Stand concert in Alice Springs, in a professional capacity as a photographer.
