When I was a teenager my mother gave me my first laptop, but this laptop was not operational. My mother always thought I had a talent in computers and challenged me to fix it. I really wanted the laptop so I pushed myself to learn how to repair it. With no training prior to that day I taught myself how to fix that computer and used it for more 3 more years. That talent was eventually converted into a career path once I entered the Year Up Program. Through this program I was awarded a 6-month internship at General Electric, and four months into the internship I was offered a permanent position by CompuCom to work for GE.My position as a Data and Technical Analyst at GE, as well as my training with Year Up provided me with 3 years’ experience in many facets of Information Technology. As a Data Analyst my concentration was in Project Management. I was tasked with projects that required excellent knowledge of the programs in Microsoft Office Suite with a concentration in Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.As a Technical Analyst, I was responsible for the Helpdesk support for internal customers inclusive of: software repair, hardware repair, malware removal, phone support, remote desktop support, and excellent customer service. I built a great rapport with customers and was viewed favorably as a hardworking technician. I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given as I look to move forward in growing with in my career. With my talent, skills acquired, and ambition I want to open doors to opportunities in the IT field that allow growth and innovation. My mother saw potential in a talent that I had and she decided to present me with a challenge to push me to use that talent, and now I hope to find new challenges that force me to be pushed to even greater heights.
