Aspen Marketing is a company that that creates and implements direct mail marketing campaigns across the country with the aim of acquiring and retaining customers in a variety of businesses ranging from auto sales, health insurance, the food/beverage industry, and phone/internet service providers. My role as a copy editor within the AT&T account of Aspen Marketing found me reviewing the content at its various pre-production stages, and making sure it is consistent with the style and brand voice the client asked for. I consistently performed my job with a keen eye for detail, and accuracy.I worked in a very team oriented atmosphere, not only with the other copy editors/proofreaders but with the production artists and copywriters who created the content, as well as the traffic managers and account executives who were responsible for routing and approving the work done within the deadlines given.

AVID is a program that teaches students the research, communication, note-taking, and critical thinking skills required to reach their full potential and get into a college or university. As a tutor I led small group sessions that incorporated the Socratic seminar method of teaching which has students access prior knowledge of the subjects at hand, and stimulate higher level thinking and reasoning skills used in higher education. I also gave presentations about the college experience on topics ranging from the admission process, note taking skills, and financial aid. I also helped organize field trips to go on college tours at Elgin Community College, and Northern Illinois University.
