I joined P&E Baumpflege as a complete greenhorn. I spent 3 months loading the tree waste into the trucks and supporting the climbers as a "groundy" before being sent on my first climbing and arborculture courses. From there I learnt the craft of from some top European climbers, and became a crew leader after only a year in the industry. Now 3 years on, I carry out all the biggest and most dangerous tree removals for my company, managing my crew to get the job done quickly and safely. I carry out pre job briefings, assign the roles to my crew for the day, and liase directly with the clients.

I am currently working in the property and buildings group with GHD. I am involved in the design and delivery of projects including light commercial structures, seismic assessments, residential design, foundation design, peer review and construction monitoring of a variety of projects.

As part of the 3 year graduate programme "Project NewGrad", I am now with Auckland Transport working on the City Rail Link project. As a construction engineer on the project I am involved in tendering works, overseeing construction processes and liasing with the design and architectural consultants.

As a contract engineer at FH, my main responsibilities were overseeing the daily operations onsite for pavement rehabilitation projects, performing QA duties and coordinating both in house staff and sub contractors via morning prestart meetings. I was also involved in the organisation of resource and all aspects of planning prior to the physical works taking place, as well as the claim process post construction. Ontop of this I put out to tender minor safety works and organised the delivery of the works through to construction completion.
