My name is Cameron Davies, I’m a second year Undergraduate Music student at Durham University working towards a BA with an interest in Conducting, and I am looking to progress to study for a MA or MMus. Within the field of conducting I currently hold 2 positions within the University. I am Director of Chapel Music at St Chad's College, responsible for the general and musical leadership of the college's Chapel Choir in 2 weekly services and a number of trips and concerts throughout the year. I have also recently been appointed Associate Conductor for Durham University Choral Society, taking on a number of duties in the direction of this 100-strong choir under the mentorship of John Forsyth MBE. Both of these roles have acted as a fantastic springboard into choral and general music direction, and to supplement this I actively seek opportunities beyond term-time to learn and practise with notable experts in the field.Recently I completed the rigorous IB Diploma programme, with a major in Biology, Latin, and Music, earning 40 points (equivalent A*AA at A-Level). Additionally, I have also obtained the BTEC Level 2 Diploma for Teamwork and Personal Development, showcasing my dedication to personal growth and collaboration.Music is at the heart of my work, and I have worked hard during my secondary education to acquire two Grade 8 ABRSM distinctions in Violin and Singing, as well as Grade 5 in Piano and Theory. I have also enjoyed a huge amount of extra-curricular projects and commitments in the department, ranging from working in a concerto grosso or leading the Junior and Senior Barbershop groups. My commitment to teaching and mentoring others is highlighted by my experience as a freelance tutor and a crash course instructor for renowned tutoring companies like Revishaan LTD. Furthermore, I have served as a Bass Lay clerk at Brentwood Cathedral, gaining valuable experience in a professional musical setting.Through my work, I have obtainedn a variety of skills that contribute to my effectiveness as a model worker. These include exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, developed through my experience as a tutor and crash course instructor. Additionally, my organizational abilities, attention to detail, and leadership qualities are assets that enable me to excel in demanding roles such as my position as Director of Music or as Head of School.Overall, with my diverse set of achievements, qualifications, and skills, I am well-prepared to make a significant impact in the world of work, particularly within the field of music.
