• Worked to conserve, restore, and protect some of the nation's premier fish and wildlife habitat by monitoring flora and fauna of grasslands, wetlands, and forests• Applied biology and biological procedures to perform work related to wildlife and habitat management• Managed invasive species, implementing the latest tactics and protocols, and assisted with refuge maintenance and restoration projects • Assisted with public events, tours, and refuge hunts including answering questions, posting hunt areas and assisting with waterfowl lotteries and other hunts• Organized and help implement changes to policy regarding waterfowl hunt practices and regulations• Data collection and analysis of habitat conditions, seasonal hydrologic changes, and wildlife usage

- Contracted harvester for ongoing research project about wetland biodiversity regarding multiple cattail species and the effects of opening up marshes. Topics of interest ranged from fertilizer alternatives to migratory bird nesting and wildlife use.

• Ecological surveying of woodland plots across the 10,000+ acres of the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge to adapt new land grants from a prairie-based ecosystem back to its natural woodland diversity• Soil and plant surveys, plant identification, and field work in multiple environment types from wetland to prairie• Built wells for HOBO surveys of ground water and flood level saturation at selective sites to study the drainage and flow of water for years to come across the refuge, better predicting changes during wet seasons• Additional funding and training provided by the National Refuge itself via state commercial pesticide applicator licensing, federal ORUV certification, defensive driver certification, and $2,500 stipend to work around the refuge aiding in wildlife management • Maintenance work upkeeping small engines and machines, building information panels and boundary markers, maintaining turf at public access points, and trail head clearance throughout the grounds
