I am a Professor of Social Impact in the Centre for Organisations and Social Change (COSC) in the College of Business and Law at RMIT University in Melbourne. With colleagues, my work within COSC investigates complex health and social problems in cities, drawing from a range of contemporary social theorists including Gilles Deleuze, Judith Butler and Maurizio Lazzarato. I am especially interested in the dynamics of social change and the ways social innovation drives creative responses to enduring social and health problems in urban settings. My recent work explores the relationship between health, place and social context with a focus on housing insecurity, mental illness and drug use. Working at the intersections of political theory, organisational studies and the sociology of health and illness, my goal is to contribute theoretically informed accounts of housing insecurity, mental illness and substance use, alert to the social and structural dimensions of social innovation in cities.
