Manage Drill and Blast contractors while undertaking Drill and blast related continuous improvement projects.

- Ensuring departmental compliance to mining plans and priorities.- Working closely with Planning and Drill and Blast Supervisors to ensure correct drill rig allocation.- Creation of drilling and blasting designs based on pit designs to minimise wall damage and cost while maximizing digability and ore recovery.- Tracking and analysis of drilling and blasting activities.- Vibration measurement and recording.- Continuous improvement of practices and designs based on blast analysis.- Provide technical support and mentoring to shotfirers and Drill and Blast Supervisors.- Monitor costs and ensure budget is adhered to.

- Day to day supervision of approx 70 personnel consisting of Shot crew, drillers and contractors.- Promoting and maintaining a safe work environment using tools such as field leaderships, take time talks, audits, daily workplace inspections, tool box talks, prestart meetings, coaching and risk assessment.- Reporting and investigating incidents and delivering outcomes to ensure a safe workplace.- Performance monitoring of teams and liaising with all departments on site to ensure obstacles are overcome and targets are met.- Managing Drillers and Shot-crew to achieve targets and desired results including scheduling, planning employee development, training, investigations, rewarding and discipline where required.- Design, review and implementation of procedures training packages and risk assessments relating to Drill and Blast practices, work instructions and auditable paperwork ensuring legislative compliance.- Liaising with external providers and ordering consumables.- Managing contractors and creating a “One Team” environment including performance monitoring, safety audits and contractual compliance.- Safely control blast activities.- Relief Superintendent when required.- Achieved consecutive records of days recordable injury free.
