I was engaged with an initial focus on minimising capital exposure across existing JV developments while identifying opportunities to build a robust pipeline. My role was to defend business interests during and after the global economic downturn in 2008. I later gained accountability for the full retail portfolio with a strong emphasis on maximising value and leading strategic acquisitions. Then I lead strategy and execution for retail management, development and acquisitions, and direct residential development with a focus on identifying new opportunities and driving return. My role required extensive stakeholder management with joint venture partners, community stakeholders, local councils, major tenants, banks and financial institutions. I lead a team of 35.• Established a fully functioning and profitable Retail division from the ground-up;• Strategically repositioned retail projects to deliver viable development opportunities following the GFC, including the Bayside-Brighton Development in Melbourne in partnership with Coles;• Delivered the vision of the Birkenhead Point Shopping Centre and Marina as a destination outlet centre and world class marina. This lead to its successful sale to Mirvac.;• Oversaw all aspects of the residential development eg The Eminence development, a multimillion dollar residential and retail development in close proximity to Melbourne CBD, delivering 25.88% development margin and 35.75% EIRR. -
