I work closely with the engineering team as the lead technician to build custom, automated laboratory systems that enable the transfer of well plates/media between different instruments. I oversee the systems that are being built, and ensure that delivery deadlines will be met. Routinely write ECOs and BOMs, as well as track any issues with received parts from vendors. Modifying stock parts as required for the build using various machine shop tools is done often with each system. I work daily in Solidworks, using it as a reference to build the system as well as bring up any design concerns with the engineering team. Pinpoint areas where efficiency could be improved and execute the required steps to take to make the change

• Worked as a full-time undergraduate researcher for the Chemistry department at NAU researching Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry (TOFMS)• Collaborated with Sandia National Laboratories as a client to create a design that fit their needs and met the specified goals• Researched many different subjects to create a deep understanding of the process of mass spectrometry, including:• Vacuum systems and why an Ultra High Vacuum is necessary• Desorption of ions from a sample, the principles of acceleration of said ions through the flight tube, and finally the many ways to achieve ion detection at the conclusion of the test• Sample heating methods such resistive and radiative heating• Different types of mass spectrometers and the benefits of each type• Coded a program in MATLAB along with a teammate that predicted the temperatures along a stainless-steel sample given varying voltage and current inputs• Created CAD designs, assemblies, and engineering drawings using Solidworks and later 3D printed designs to showcase the proposed final design• Analyzed the ion flow through the TOFMS by measuring and altering voltages throughout the system• Led the team in the writing and editing of the final report detailing our findings and proposed final design

• Ran and monitored the injection molding syringe production cell in a clean room environment requiring the use of clean room suits• Tested syringe parameters such as dimensions, barrel friction, and puncture force to ensure values were acceptable and within tolerances• Analyzed data obtained from testing the samples using Excel to find values such as mean values and standard deviations in the sample population• Assisted team with editing documents to document recent changes to parameters before production began
