About Cameron Mirza

The best way to find out about me is to ask the students whose learning experiences and life chances have improved by the national higher education transformational work I have been fortunate enough to work on. The second best way to ask the people who have worked with me, in particular over the last decade affecting national systems- wide change and institutional improvements. I don't know more than others but I am constantly learning and I listen to those who know more than me to draw on their knowledge and experiences. I am self-critical and support institutions to challenge themselves and push their thinking and actions from out the comfort zone. I build and create around possibilities rather than constraints, through building capacity, capabilities, research, data, technology, collaborating with great partners, and listening which is greatly underrated. I passionately believe that education is central to solving some of the global challenges we currently face, however, systems and institutions are too slow and/or working in the wrong direction. I try to provide practical guidance to support countries and institutions to live and work in the now and future as opposed to the past. To move past headlines and rhetoric to actually improve outcomes for communities that go on to positively influence economies and wider society. I am a board member of @Gii https://www.globalimpactinitiative.com . Gii is a nonprofit that empowers vulnerable and at-risk communities globally through education, mentoring, and job skills training that builds generational stability and wellness.
