Duties include facilitating the adoption process for children who are legally free and have permanent adoptive placements. Recruit and seek potential permanent placements when appropriate for children who are not currently in their permanent situations, utilizing Special Recruitment, web based services, Consortium, and other methods. Work with the community partners and outside agencies to assist in the processes of achieving adoption or other forms of permanency.Provide monthly assessments of the health and safety of each child on my caseload. Meet performance standards surrounding Safety, Permanency and Well-being. Advocate on behalf of each child in the educational setting and work with the educational team to ensure educational needs are met. Work with Behavior Rehabilitation Services (BRS) providers, medical providers, therapists, and other service providers to coordinate case management services on behalf of the child and the family, to help alleviate barriers to achieving the child's permanent plan. Review home studies and utilize methodologies in matching children with potential permanent placements. Provide court updates and adoption documentation to expedite the Adoption Support and Adoption processes though finalization. Initiate Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children (ICPC) process and connection to out of state services in order to support the child's placement and permanent plan. Conduct Family Assessments and Permanency Planning Meetings regarding the child's time in care and progress toward their permanent plans. Consult with Assistant Attorney Generals (AAG) and appropriate chain of command authority to insure policy and legal objectives are met. Assess appropriateness of fit relating to the adoptive family and child throughout the adoptive/permanency processes.

Duties in this position include providing Solution Based Casework (SBC) management to clients and their families. A significant number of these clients are long-term children who will ultimately not return home. Many are placed in Behavioral Rehabilitative Services (BRS) treatment centers or are legally free with no current permanent placement options. The position required managing cases in coordination with treatment providers, such as, BRS placement providers, Regional Support Network (RSN)-regional/local mental health network gatekeeper/s, mental health and chemical dependency service providers, wrap around teams, and foster parents. Responsibilities include assisting children who are arriving at 18 years old to transition to adulthood through working with the Independent Living Services (ILS) providers, placement providers, and other service provider coordination. This includes working with Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration in coordinating children transitioning from detention centers such as, Echo Glen to their community or placement option. This unit typically housed children whose birth family was no longer involved with the Department, exhibited the most challenging behaviors, and were older as they had been in the State's custody for extended periods of time. Case stabilization was the key priority and trying to achieve permanency for children was ongoing.
