My first job was working at Wal-Mart as a cashier from November 2011-September 2012 (Left due to scheduling complications with school). I was 19 and had no clue what I was getting myself in to, nor did I know how to handle different types of customers I was going to encounter. I had screaming kids with their parents, customers who say hi and nothing else, customers who were rude as can be. This job taught me customer service and always putting the customer first and I'm very grateful from what I learned here.My 2nd job I ended up back at Wal-Mart but this time I was an Inventory/Cap Team Member (October 2013-April 2016). I was more involved with the store's backroom, freight and management. We worked as a team to get the freight from most of the departments into the bins and write counts on the boxes along with working freight here and there. This job taught me time management; I always had to think ahead and make a plan in case we ran out of space in the bins. Getting the freight in the bins was my top priority even if that meant staying a little bit longer to get it done. Although I did love my time in Retail, my main focus is trying to get in to Hotel Management or Event Management. When I was a kid we always took family vacations and stayed in hotels, but I always wondered what happened behind the scenes of a hotel and all of its Operations. From the Front Desk to the housekeepers and how the kitchen operates it has always fascinated me. Event Management has always been a option for me after I went to a couple of graduation parties, weddings and even planned my sister's baby shower along with my own. Any opportunity in these fields of work would be a such a great opportunity and to work with a great team of people would be the cherry on top.
