Performing the role of Sustainment Specialist for the Defence High Frequency Communication System (DHFCS) Program, I support the Technical, Maintenance and Project Management teams to ensure the sustainment capability of complex products and services. As the Sustainment Specialist I lead, manage and perform a variety of complex tasks related to the acquisition and in-service support. Responsibilities Proactively manage and report on existing and emerging system obsolescence issues, including analysis and tracking of all system equipment. Provide up to date and accurate reporting of all obsolescence issues to stakeholders in a timely manager to effectively manage system performance and contracted requirements.  Manage materiel sustainment operations including logistics engineering functions, inventory optimisation, reprovisioning activities and sustainment compliance activities.  Implement and conduct failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action reporting. Identify and report on emerging system performance issues and assist in developing and implementing long term maintenance and engineering based solutions.  Act a point of contact on matters relating to non-conforming and defect materials. Liaise with the customer, management, systems engineers, suppliers and sub-contracts to ensure end to end management.  Manage, update and report on OEM and supplier warranty utilisation and status. Ensure the effective utilisation and recording of warranties.  Manage, Update and Implement the DHFCS Preventative Maintenance schedule via the Technical Maintenance Plan. Conduct analysis to ensure all preventative maintenance activities are compliant with OEM requirements and are suitably adapted for the end operational environment. Manage and report on the overall efficiency and cost effectiveness of the Preventative Maintenance schedule.  Develop and implement strategic asset maintenance plans in support of contractual requirements and business objectives.

I joined the RAAF in Aug 2002 as a trainee Avionics Technician. I progresses through my training on time and in Jan 2004 I was posted to 1 Squadron where I performed Operational Level Maintenance on the F-111C fleet of aircraft. This included the successful completion of a deeper level scheduled servicing along with extensive time spent in the deeper level workshops preforming repairs to specialist electronics equipment. During this time I became technically adept at fault finding and repair a wide range of technical items, from DC motors to state of the art radar systems and associated equipment. I further developed my technical trade skills through the completion of an Advanced Diploma of Electrical Technology.
