About Cameron Smith

An excellent mathematical and analytical ability, developed through my undergraduate, I subsequently took steps to acquire skills in audio engineering following a personal passion for sound. Currently undertaking a master’s degree that is allowing me to combine these disciplines for research purposes with focuses in digital signal processing (DSP), acoustics, and physical modelling. I am seeking an opportunity to further develop these specialisations and begin a professional career in this field.

  • Oxfam
    Music Store Volunteer

During a small period of last year when I was between jobs, I decided to offer up my spare time by beginning to volunteer with a nearby Oxfam music store. I quickly found that this was a position that was perfectly suited to my interests and skills and even after starting my following paid employment I have still set aside morning throughout my week to spend in the shop. I have largely taken responsibility for identifying and selling of potentially high value items online through eBay. Writing up an advert for them requires care and research identifying the particular release and year of production and finding background information for the description. Identifying potentially valuable items requires pooling and sharing knowledge between the very insightful people I volunteer with and I take great pleasure in contributing towards this. The physical media needs to be scrutinised for flaws and marks and I will work through the unclean records in batches cleaning them and restoring them to their former glory.
