Over six years I worked in many areas across the company in my role as a Research and Development Engineer.I developed the company’s Noise and Vibration testing procedure and analysis software. This involved the full design and development of an N&V data capture and analysis package using LabVIEW. This became the standard system in use across the company in on-site testing and when commissioning and inspecting company equipment around the world.I was the Lead Design and Software Engineer for the development of an innovative helicopter handling system. This system was to be used on the decks of vessels from multiple navies across the world. This involved:• Designing the full system from initial concept to final solution• Building and maintaining relationships directly with suppliers, establishing acceptable contractual arrangements• Overseeing the development of a prototype, ensuring the project was on schedule and performed as expected• Leading the testing, analysis and validation of the prototype• Developing the software for the system, including the HMI and control system• Designing a hardware-in-the-loop system to complete the full test of the final solution• Working with a patent attorney to secure a patent for the systemI presented my work at three major conferences; American Society of Naval Engineers 2019 in Washington DC, Undersea Defence Technology 2018 in Glasgow, and Submarine Science and Technology 2017 in Adelaide, Australia.
