Co-founder and VP Structures at Aerovelo, most recently focused on the Eta Speedbike Project to set the World Human-Powered Land Speed Record. In 2016 we achieved 89.59mph, breaking our previous record. Past projects have included the Atlas Human-Powered Helicopter, which captured the AHS Sikorsky Prize (founded in 1980 and history's third-largest aviation prize), and the Snowbird Human-Powered Ornithopter, the world's first successful flapping-wing aircraft. Our team's focus is on inspiring the public to take on their own impossible challenges, and to reduce society's environmental impact through cutting-edge engineering.

This project-based course addresses open-ended and multidisciplinary design problems, with the objective of integrating design, engineering analysis, and hardware implementation. Conducted advanced design, aerodynamic performance analysis, stability and handling studies, and structural design on a small unmanned aircraft system. Also performed control system and preliminary payload design studies and integration.

Was responsible for the design, analysis, and construction of an ultra-lightweight human-powered flapping-wing aircraft. Also supervised construction and experimentation on structural test specimens to determine failure characteristics and material properties.

Led the structural analysis and composite construction of a high-speed recumbent and aerodynamically-faired human-powered vehicle. This annual project results in a vehicle for competition in the ASME Human-Powered Vehicle Challenge and the World Human-Powered Speed Challenge in Battle Mountain Nevada.
