I have a wide-ranging variety of experience in acoustics over 15 years across many different project types, as well as a developing skillset in theatre/venue consulting.My passion is for musical/architectural acoustics, which combines my technical background with my skills as a classically-trained orchestral musician. I regularly attend performances and continue to play with orchestras and chamber music groups (including as the previous concertmaster of the Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra and first violinist of Point String Quartet), which has developed my critical listening skills to allow me to conduct 'forensic acoustic'​ assessments of existing venues to determine acoustic strengths/weaknesses. This is complemented by my interest in theatre consulting, which I am developing through project work in theatre planning, particularly in the design of orchestra pits and orchestral risers, supplemented by short courses in sound and lighting design and theatre production at NIDA.I have particular experience in building acoustic design (sound insulation and room acoustics, particularly for cultural, education and healthcare projects); design of cultural venues and sports facilities; noise control from mechanical services (drawing on my studies as a mechanical engineer) and airborne and underwater environmental noise and vibration assessment for road, light rail, heavy rail and ports projects. I enjoy working collaboratively with clients to help them identify what sort of acoustic "character" they want to achieve from a project and help to guide the design solution to provide the desired acoustic aesthetic.I was presented with the President's Prize from the Australian Acoustical Society for the paper on the acoustic design of the Ukaria Cultural Centre, which I presented at the Society's 2016 conference in Brisbane.
