About Cameron Geller

As a fourth-year PhD candidate specializing in drug resistance in cancer, I have devoted the past seven years to advancing cancer treatment through my research efforts. My current project centers on a multi-target drug ligand co-developed in our laboratory. This tool compound functions as an anti-cancer compound and a single-agent combination therapy treatment with the potential to limit or surmount drug resistance in cancer. My research background encompasses one year as a lab manager in a cancer research laboratory, three years as a master's student, and three years as a doctoral student. With a solid grounding in cancer biology and a fervor for translational research, I am keen on transitioning into the industry post-graduation. I aim to continue contributing to the design and advancement of innovative cancer therapies, ultimately enhancing outcomes for patients grappling with this formidable disease.

Listed skills include Teaching, Event Planning, Leadership, Microsoft Word, and 9 others.

I am utilizing a multi-target directed ligand (MTDL) co-developed by our lab, and my long-term goal is to demonstrate that using this compound is effective in overcoming drug resistance in cancer cells. In comparison, treatment with a standard-of-care (SOC) drug will not be effective in preventing drug resistance. My overall objective is to develop a standardized drug adaptation protocol to successfully develop resistance to multiple SOC agents, which can then be tested against developing resistance to our compound.Upon successful development of standard-of-care resistant cell populations, I will investigate if the resistance mechanisms upregulated in drug-resistant cell populations are sufficient to develop resistance to our compound's multiple mechanisms of action. Additionally, I aim to determine if treating the drug-resistant cells with our MTDL and the respective standard-of-care drug in combination will improve the therapeutic response compared to treatment with our compound alone.Ultimately, my goal is to demonstrate that our compound has the potential to overcome one or multiple mechanisms of drug resistance that hinder successful cancer treatment in patients.
