As an intern I worked as a financial analyst for MARKA Strategic Financial Services, LLC, whose principal has 40 years’ experience as Certified Public Account and is Accredited in Business Valuation by the AICPA. He served as a CFO and CEO in a very large public teaching hospital. He is currently working with startup technical companies to advance their missions.I was involved in the day to day operations of maintaining the general ledger for two funded startup high-tech companies based in Albuquerque New Mexico. I participated in closing the books for the companies including reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and calculating accruals for accurate representation of accounts.I was involved in generating the monthly, quarterly and year-to-date financial statements including the Statement of Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement. Analysis was conducted on the financial statements with comments being provided to management. MARKA had created 5-year financial projection models for the startup companies. I was responsible for inputting the final monthly data into the projection model and balancing the model out to match the financial statements. Further analysis was performed on the projection models with the analysis provided to the company’s managementI was able to participate in the Board meetings of the companies to observe the presentation and discussion of the financial statements between management and the Board. I also was able to listen to the discussion on how the company was going to execute their strategic plan using the financial projection model. I gained hands on experience by being able to understand how a company is formed, developed and is able to raise funds through Venture Capitalist. In my role, I learned how to use QuickBooks Online as a tool to support the financing of a company. I learned to reconcile accounts, calculate accrual and created financial projections and statements.
