I decided to go into software engineering because my whole life I have been fascinated by computers. I remember playing on my mother's old box computer every day before kindergarten and being more efficient with it than my mother was. I thought about similar fields like computer science, but I wanted something tangible. As much as I love computers, it doesn't matter how they work, but their capabilities. When I think about my future, I don't envision worrying about BUS systems and RAM capabilities; I think of the new software that I can make that can make a positive influence in the way people go about their lives. When someone uses google maps or an online calculator, they don't care about the hardware. They care about what the software is doing, and I would like to be a part of that process. Knowing that my time and effort will go into helping someone and doing something useful will make my career choice worth it in the end.
