As a DA Engineer, I lead the design controls and risk management activities for the development and maintenance of numerous medical devices, OTC drugs, and cosmetic products, ensuring the safety, efficacy, and intended performance of each product.

As an undergraduate research assistant, I utilized MTWTesla, a markerless tracking software, to quantify the biomechanics of the shoulder joint of normal shoulders and shoulders that have undergone reverse total shoulder arthroplasty. I also calibrated fluoroscopy files of shoulder movements using MTWTesla to minimize biasing and distortion, preparing the files for markerless tracking.

As a sales associate at Rip Curl, I sold products to customers, manned the cash register, and handled the back-stocking of items. I collaborated as a team with my coworkers to solve the store’s issues to gain the problem-solving skills necessary to function efficiently and timely under pressure. Moreover, I interacted with customers by answering their questions, anticipating their needs, and simply talking with them to better improve my ability to connect with others.

As a teaching assistant during the summer at Iolani School, I organized engaging activities for twenty sixth graders while also asserting my authority when needed. I learned when it was important to be strict while also being able to gauge when to practice leniency.

In the summer of 2016, two of my classmates and I founded SIFTE Sunglasses with the business model of donating the proceeds of every sale to a charity that focuses on helping people with visual imparities. All three of us acted as salespeople by interacting with potential customers and reaching out to different communities. Personally, as the head of design, I designed the company logo, influenced the overall sunglasses design, and managed the social media accounts to market and brand this new company. Although the company no longer exists, its ideas and business model lives on as Uhigear which is run by the Young Entrepreneurs Club at Iolani School in Honolulu, Hawaii.
