As part of the involvement in the NASA Student Launch Initiative, the UF Rocket Team, designs, develops, and builds a high powered rocket to carry or support a specific payload as outlined by NASA and selected by the Payloads Team. As part of this team, I designed and developed a system for vertical landing of the rocket fuselage and developed this design along with team mates for the 2016-2017 competition. This year, I helped to develop and write the proposal document for a autonomous robotic payload capable of deploying safely from the rocket, traversing 5 feet across the ground, and deploying solar panels upon reaching 5 feet. We designed and fully outlined three such payloads before selecting one. Although the Payloads team has decided to develop a target detection payload, I will still be contributing to the development and successful integration of this payload, and expect to still develop the rover as part of a new experimental payloads team.

The UF Rocket Team engineers designs, develops, and build rockets and conducts rocketry research primarily for competition in the NASA Student Launch Initiative. As Webmaster, I keep the team site up to date as part of competition requirements, and make available on the page all necessary information for team members to stay informed about meetings and the competition, as well as acting as advisor to the team on the state of the site and improvements to be made.As Social Chair, I facilitate communications between the team leads and the team members through social media and email as well as sponsoring team involvement to develop cooperation and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the team. This is achieved through consistent communication, the development of a new newsletter, and launch-watching engagements for the team.
