As a private tutor of English, chemistry, biology, and music, since the beginning of 2022, I have developed excellent communication skills and an ability to adapt my pedagogy to suit a dynamic range of students with various abilities. I have also learnt to communicate with other teaching professionals, to garner learning materials and develop a strong resource bank necessary to provide the highest quality tutelage possible.Many of my students have progressed in their learning considerably - with several achieving ATAR results above 98. I prioritise strong relationships with my students and welcome feedback whenever applicable.

As the Deputy Head Prefect of Rostrevor College in 2022, I learned the importance of leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving; skills are essential for a career in medicine wherein I will the ability lead and motivate teams of healthcare professionals, communicate effectively with patients and their families, and solve complex medical problems will be perennially required.During my role, I was largely responsible for managing a team of 12 prefects and overseeing many school initiatives, including the Greatest Shave, Blue Week, among others. I developed strong leadership skills in and prioritised the pursuit of superordinate goals amongst my fellow prefects. I also cultivated rich communication skills in order to cogently relay information to students, teachers, and parents.I also learned the importance of problem-solving. Several challenges were encountered throughout my time as prefect, such as dealing with student conflicts and resolving disciplinary issues. I adopted critical and creative thinking strategies to solve the problems diplomatically and with tact. I believe many of these skills to be essential for me in a career in medicine. As a doctor, I will need to be able to lead and motivate teams of healthcare professionals, communicate effectively with patients and their families, and solve complex medical problems. Undoubtedly, my time as prefect has afforded me many of these skills, which I will further improve upon as I continue to devote myself to lifelong professional betterment.

As a head soccer coach of year 3 students in 2022, I was responsible for the instruction/coaching of keen players ages 9-10. With my team demonstrating a wide range of talents, my ability to remain tactful and enthusiastic toward all my players made the environment one of comfort and flourishing. I was responsible for communicating with officials, both during and before game days, as well as managing team logistics during the playing week.During our season I was thrilled to boost the confidence of several players, as well as seeing demonstrable improvement in technical ability across the season. All have continued to play into the 2023 season.Having continued to cultivate my communicatory ability among youth, I am inspired to build upon my skills in my ultimate goal of entering paediatric medicine.
