I recently landed my dream job as a journalist in the scenic town of Cortez, Colorado. Here, I have the opportunity to write an array of stories while learning about a new part of America environmentally, politically, and otherwise. I graduated from Michigan State's journalism program last May with honors; afterwards, I spent time traveling abroad, freelance writing and making subpar lattes. I'm excited to set roots in one place while I grow as a writer. Though I graduated, I intend to remain a student for life. Above all, I look forward to learning and growing in this new place. I look forward to climbing rocks here, too.

Freelance WriterGreat Lakes Echo Aug 2022 - Dec 2022The Solutions Journalism Network chose eight newsrooms in the nation to fund and Great Lakes Echo was one of them. In this role, I wrote environmental stories that were solutions oriented. I sat in on monthly cohort Zoom meetings with the other seven newsrooms around America and wrote solutions stories, which are essentially news stories that focus on finding solutions to the environmental problems we're facing, instead of solely focusing on the problem. It's a proactive and encouraging way to tell the rather grim story of climate change.
