I am currently working as a private tutor (subjects: Sociology, Psychology and English, up to A Level) so I am well-read in sociological and psychological theories both past and present.

I support local people who experience severe and enduring mental health issues such as trauma-induced complex depression and anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, PTSD, psychosis, and ASD and its associated comorbid diagnoses. I run a drop-in centre that helps our service users get themselves on the road to recovery and our approach is strengths-based; we aim to foster a greater self-identity, interests, coping mechanisms and sense of independence and emotional resilience through the provision of psycho-educational and social groups. My role includes:• Providing support to CAPE clients who access our Recovery Centre service• Building and maintaining sustainable relationships with clients based on mutual trust and respect• Generating ideas for psycho-educational, hobby/activity and physical and mental wellbeing groups, plan their structure and content, and facilitating these groups• Attending new referrals meetings and conducting induction meetings with new clients, ensuring they have access to our full suite of services.• Working alongside the Head of Recovery to monitor clients’ six-monthly recovery levels using a Strengths-Based approach that we developed together.• Understanding the causes and symptoms of mental health issues, and illness relapse and prevention.• Understanding crisis management and self-harm, and being able to deal with life threatening situations including suicide prevention.

I work directly with our service users on a daily basis; I research, develop and deliver interventions (e.g. Cognitive Behavioural Interventions, Anger Management, Anxiety Management and Emotional Literacy programmes), I mentor and carry out classroom observations so as to better encourage and facilitate the social, emotional, physical and academic development of individuals with autism, Asperger’s syndrome and associated co-morbid diagnoses and learning difficulties. I also support education staff in developing and maintaining a stimulating learning environment. I achieve this through the following:• Carrying out specified treatment and intervention programmes with service users or groups of service users.• Attending Multidisciplinary meetings and Team Around the Child, and Child In Need meetings.• Assisting in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups.• Building a supportive, mutually respectful Mentor/Mentee relationship with individual students.• Data collection and analysis, including completing psychological assessment through questionnaires, rating measures, direct and indirect observations and interviews, and baseline measures, tracking and follow-up measures to monitor progress (e.g. Child Self-Report MFQ, Child Self-Report WHO5 Well-Being Index 1998, Parent Report on Child MFQ).• Trained to use the Boxall Profile to assess for behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.• Training for all staff (teachers, LSAs) on:o Training on different topics (E.g. mentoring, self-esteem, self-efficacy, Cognitive Behavioural Interventions in the classroom, dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, OCD, Anxiety, Anhedonia), including explaining conditions and how they might impact behaviour, and how they can be addressed.

Develop and maintain a stimulating learning environment through one-to-one tuition, problem-solving assignments and group activities which facilitate the social, emotional, physical and academic development of individuals with autism, Asperger’s syndrome and associated learning difficulties.Building a supportive, mutually respectful Mentor/Mentee relationship with individual students.Shadowing Psychology team and learning how to assess behavioural, emotional and social difficulties using The Boxall Profile.Developing SMART behaviour targets for the up-coming term.Participating in certified training and refresher courses in a range of areas including Child Protection, Physical Intervention, aggression management, Health & Safety at work and other specialist training related to the location in addition to undertaking relevant CPD.

Plan & deliver well structured lessons which engage & motivate students. Create a vibrant and effective learning environment. Work well with other professionals, such as speech therapists & occupational therapists.

I provided practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children. My responsibilities included:• Contributing to multidisciplinary discussions about a client's diagnosis, treatment, risk assessment and care plan issues;• Undertaking specified behavioural observations and assessments• Seeking and acquiring specific information by reading notes, investigating histories etc;• Working with client's carers, relatives and others involved in their care including mental health workers.

I compiled ministerial briefs of the most recent research for policy implementation and early years interventions. Research topics included:the impact of abuse and neglect on the development of the brain brain development and advances in epigenetic research root causes of internalising and externalising behaviours.
