The Social Outfit is a fashion label with a difference - a charity and an independently-accredited work integration social enterprise (WISE) that provides employment and training in the fashion industry to women from refugee and new migrant communities in clothing production, retail, design and marketing. The Social Outfit is a registered Incorporated Association, recognised as a Public Benevolent Institution Charity in Australia. As CEO, I led the day-to-day operations of The Social Outfit, including operational, financial and staff management, as well as organisational strategy, stakeholder relations and communications, and fundraising. My role included the management of The Social Outfit’s: ethical manufacturing work as a distinctive fashion label specialising in womenswear; retail and online stores; the ongoing delivery of community employment programs; other relevant training and education programs; and, other enterprise ventures and activities.Over 5 years I managed to significantly increase the impact of the organisation, growing it from 20 to 200 individual outcomes per year, as well as to almost triple its revenue from sales and fundraising.

As founding Executive Director, I managed the day-to-day operations of the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP) - an independent research institute dedicated to better understanding the social, political and economic factors that develop a more peaceful society - from its inception to its global recognition and establishment of five international offices. IEP’s research is used extensively by governments, academic institutions, think tanks, non-governmental organisations and by intergovernmental institutions such as the OECD, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the World Bank and the United Nations. The Institute was recently ranked in the top 15 most impactful think tanks in the world on the Global Go To Think Tank Index.While guiding the daily operations of IEP, I was responsible for setting strategic goals and aligning them with opportunities to advance IEP's global reach and impact. I managed the annual development and global release of the Global Peace Index and oversaw and coordinated activities of IEP’s offices in Sydney, New York, The Hague, Brussels, and Mexico City.

In the role of Regional Adviser to the United Nations Office for Partnerships, I provided advice and support to the United Nations in efforts to build new partnerships with civil society, foundations and the private sector in South East Asia.
