Head Of Programs
Uplifters is a young social initiative aiming at empowering underprivileged communities - with a focus on Migrant Domestic Workers - through online education and peer support. Having recently joined the organization, I am working closely with the Founder and CEO to develop or 2020-2022 strategy aiming at both maximizing our social impact on our current students as well as laying the foundations to scale. The program team's priorities include developing and diversifying our online courses and improving our students journey. We also give high priority to impact measurement to ensure the best response possible to our constituents' needs.
Head Of Development / Head Of Programs
I joined Resolve Foundation from its earliest stages, first as volunteer Head of Development and later as one of the first staff members, as Head of Programs. Resolve being a new initiative, I actively contributed in bringing in new supporters, sponsors and funders to ensure dynamic but sustainable growth. I was mostly responsible for maximizing Resolve's organizational and programmatic development so the start-up could grow in line with our constituents’ needs and priorities. I notably took lead responsibility for and successfully delivered Resolve's launch event, its Everyday Racism campaign, the enhancement of the fellowship program in its second cycle and the design and implementation of a new impact assessment framework. Working along our Founder & CEO and Board of Directors, I laid the foundations for the organization to make Hong Kong more inclusive through the empowerment of emerging community leaders in the spaces of racial and gender equality.
Deputy Coordinator Of Operations
Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Operation and as the direct Manager of the Advocacy Campaign Team, I led the design and initial implementation of the campaign for Cambodia accession to the Convention on Cluster Munitions. I also closely supported Project Managers' monitoring and reporting work by conforming the M&E process to the relevant projects' progress indicators. I also built the team's capacities in analysing the data collected for reporting and ensured donor reports were written in a timely and qualitative manner.
Head Of Projects Department / M&E And Fundraising Manager
First hired as CCIM’s M&E and Fundraising Manager, I recruited, structured and managed a 5 staff international team that was in charged of submitting funding proposals to a wide range of public and private (Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), International Republican Institute (IRI), DanChurchAid-ChristianAid (DCA-CA), Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, Open Society Institute (OSI), United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDF), European Instrument for Democracy & Human Rights). Over the 17 proposals that were submitted under my supervision, 60 % were successful and contributed to more than 1 million € to CCIM’s core and projects’ budget. To maximize CCIM’s projects’ and reports’ quality, I systematized the NGO’s M&E tools and procedures and build the staff related capacities. I also led a participatory process aiming at designing and implementing a 3 years Fundraising Strategy in accordance with CCIM’s Strategic Management Plan for 2014-2016. The Fundraising Strategy led CCIM’s Board of Director to create a new Projects Department to the Head of which I was promoted, thus joining the organization’s Senior Management Team. Leading a team of 5 Cambodian Project Managers, I supervised the implementation, the monitoring and the evaluation of 7 projects on human rights and democratic governance. As a member of the Senior Management Team, I actively participated in strategic and operational decisions. I remarkably conducted an internal need assessment on gender equality and women empowerment and develop an action plan accordingly. I also played an active role as CCIM’s spokesperson to media and external stakeholders such national and local authorities, the private sector as well as NGOs and CBOs.
Advocacy Campaigns Manager / Officer
In 2010, I mainly designed and implemented advocacy strategies on business and human rights toward the French government, international organizations and private companies. These strategies involved direct meetings with private companies on specific human rights violations. In 2011, I have been promoted as the Manager of PSO / ActionAid France campaigns on workers rights. As such, I Coordinated the European “Stop Toying Around” Campaign (for fair working conditions in the toy production) at the French level as well as various petitions campaigns on human rights cases, in partnership with grassroots & international organizations. In this regard, I initiated several strategic partnerships with community-based and civil society organizations and built their advocacy and campaigning capacities. I also organized mobilization events such as flash mobs and animated an activists and volunteers group.I addition to the management of the Stop Toying Around campaign yearly budget, I was in charge of the local partners’ supportive fund. In parallel, I raised funds toward the European Union (EU) (“HungerFree” campaign of 1,2 million €), private foundations and donors and closely contributed to narrative and financial reporting toward the EU and private foundations. My responsibilities also consisted in giving frequent interviews and press conference to international and national media as well as public conferences for seminars, workshops and forum.
Street Fundraiser
I worked as a Street Fundraiser for the following NGOs: Médecins du Monde, Aides, World Wild Fund, Ligue Nationale Contre le Cancer. I built people awareness on these NGOs' visions and missions and advocate for people to financially support their work. As team leader, I maintained and strengthened my teams’ cohesion and supervised speeches’ and behaviors’ ethics.
Research Officer - Risks And Sustainable Development Department
I created and tested an analytical framework to compare the international norms and tools realated to large dams’ social impacts; such as Social Impact Assessments, Social Management Plans and Resettlement Actions Plans. I was asked to present the conclusions of my research in a article co-writing with the researcher Stéphane Labranche. The article was published by the Canadian International Journal in 2010 ("The internalization of participation norms by international organizations: The case of sustainable development and dams") and awarded in 2011 as the best article of the journal.ABSTRACT : The process of internalisation of norms within different institutions is not homogenous, its speed and depth depending on several factors. Using the case of sustainable development in dams, this article analyses actors – here, dam promoters – whose institutional or disciplinary culture does not lend them to easily take these norms into account. The hypothesis is that the “identity” and the disciplinary or ideological capacity of these “technical” institutions play an important role in the internalisation of non technical, social, norms. This follows Young’s recent arguments concerning the role the internal structure of international institutions plays in internalising and spreading environmental norms.
Advocacy Assistant - European Union Liaison Office
As the Advocacy Assistant of the FIDH's European Union Liaison Office, I wrote advocacy papers on human rights situations in about 20 countries. I was also in charge of organizing and required to attend meetings between civil society representatives (Latin America, Africa, Middle East) and European Union representatives. Based on my observation, I wrote my Master's Degree thesis on the impact of the FIDH in promoting and enforcing human rights norms around the world. My work won the prize on Non Governmental Diplomacy in 2009 and was published as a book in 2011: "International Federation for Human Rights: elaborating and enforcing Human rights norms"
Project Manager Assistant - Hiv Women And Orphans & Vulnerable Children (Ovc) Department
Under the supervision of the NGO "Orphelins Sida International", I supported ASDEB's staff in the elaboration of a vocational training center for Orphans & Vulnerable Children (OVC) through the organization of the required data collection, the identification and analysis of strategic stakeholders as well as the designing of the project under a logical framework.
