Direct patient care, charge nurse on the night shift responsible for the well being of two to ten employees and thirty long-term care and rehab patients on the unit.

Shift charge nurse on evening shift supervising four to six nursing assistants and a second nurse in providing care for fifty plus residents in a long-term care facility. Duties included charting for all residents, wound care, oral and IV medication administration, performing phlebotomy procedures and obtaining patient specimen samples per laboratory protocols.

Direct patient care for all activities of daily living including toileting, transferring, feeding, hygiene care, and charting on all patients in my care.

I am certified to teach art and language arts grades four through twelve. I taught school in an upper elementary self-contained 5th grade where I planned for and taught all subjects. Later I taught speech and entrepreneurship in a 7th and 8th grade middle school.

In 1992 I wrote and administrated a $300,000 grant that was fully funded by the State of Mississippi to start a preschool/daycare program for mothers who were trying to gain training/education which would make it possible for them to get off public assistance and into the workforce. This was the largest grant awarded by the State of Mississippi at that time for a project of this nature. I was responsible for site preparation, soliciting bids for equipment, transportation, and supplies for the project, selecting an accountant, arranging for insurance for the facility and the vehicles and payroll and choosing and managing vendors for day to day operations. Once the building was built and ready to open I was responsible for interviewing for a range of staff for the facility from the teachers, to drivers, to a cook. After opening the center, in addition to all administrative duties, I was also responsible for training the teachers and writing curriculum.
