Hi! My name is Camille and I am a Ph.D. candidate at Northwestern University, expected to graduate with my degree in March 2025. Throughout the course of my Ph.D., I’ve discovered that I find joy in applying my quantitative skills to problems that directly impact our world. After I receive my degree, I aim to pivot my career towards projects in the public or private sectors that lend themselves to my analytical expertise.__EducationI received my B.A. from Princeton University in Spring 2020, majoring in Astrophysical Sciences and minoring in Applications of Computing. I began my Ph.D. program in Astronomy at Northwestern University in Fall 2020. I received an M.S. in Astronomy from Northwestern in Spring 2023 as part of my Ph.D. program, as well as the Northwestern Graduate School's Certificate in Integrated Data Science.__Community-Focused Data ScienceI interned full-time at Northwestern's Center for Neighborhood Engaged Research & Science (CORNERS) during Summer 2023, and I have continued to work with them in addition to my graduate research. During my internship, I spearheaded a machine learning project that sought to understand how community violence intervention programs in Chicago impact the future success of their participants.__Software DevelopmentI am a member of the code development team for the next-generation simulation software POSYDON. POSYDON is a population synthesis code seeking to advance the field of binary evolution through its use of advanced computational techniques and object-oriented design. I am leading the development of two large features of the code that will be published in POSYDON version 2 and version 3.__Communication SkillsI have learned how to explain complex concepts to non-experts in my field through my experience as a teaching assistant at Northwestern University and through working with recent U.S. veterans in the Warrior Scholars Project. I have given upwards of 10 talks about my research to a wide variety of audiences, from high school students to expert research colleagues across the globe.
