My story does not focus on me but rather on those around me. Instead of standing in front of the camera, I stepped behind it and zoomed in on others. Everyone has a story to tell, from brief conversations with strangers to my friend who beat cancer three times. Whether or not anyone thinks their story is worth telling, I aim to help them recognize how fascinating they truly are. During my university years, I was blessed to work as a photojournalist alongside working towards two degrees in Journalism and Photography. Through that journey, I also learned how to design for print media and lead cross-functioning teams under deadlines. From writing, photographing and designing to photo and copy editing, I offer a wide range of print and digital media skills. According to the time capsule I made in second grade, I have always dreamed of becoming a reporter. I suppose 7-year-old Camille Rose hoped that by the time she reopened it after her high school graduation, she would be on her way to achieving that dream. Now, here I am, with two degrees in journalism and photography. There is a good chance that when that little girl wrote “riproter,” she thought about being in front of the camera, but I will have to apologize because that is not how this story turned out. It has now been several years since I opened that time capsule. Despite not following my younger dreams exactly as 7-year-old Camille Rose planned, I would stand before her, proud of our accomplishments and excited about where we will go.
