I am an experienced journalist who completed an M.A. at Columbia Journalism School in May 2023 with a full scholarship. I am specialized in religion, national and international political, economic, social and human issues, with rigorous trainings focused on investigative techniques and data research.I am a Staff Reporter at NCR - National Catholic Reporter, the leading (and fully independent) Catholic news outlet in the US and the most widely read English-language Catholic news outlet in the world. Founded in 1964, NCR is a progressive non-profit, and not funded or overseen by any official Catholic entity. Before NCR, I worked full time at The Forward, the leading independent Jewish news outlet in the US, where I covered all the demonstrations related to the Israel-Hamas war happening in New York. In the summer of 2023, I interned at NewsGuard, where I worked subsequently as a contributing freelance analyst. At the same time, I won a Pulitzer Grant to write a long-form story on politics and human rights in Italy. My final thesis at Columbia has been a long-form story on the Iranian regime's persecution against the LGBTQ+ community. Thanks to Columbia funding, I travelled to Turkey, in a town where I met with the Iranian double-persecuted LGBTQ+ refugee community.I was born and raised in Southern Italy, in a hard context that made me an extremely resilient person amidst fear and discrimination. At 18, I moved to Rome, where I studied politics and international relations in English at LUISS University, one of Europe’s top institutions. I have always combined my studies with my work as a journalist in all areas of media (online, broadcast and print) at The Post Internazionale, Vatican Radio/Vatican News, NBC News, Class CNBC and Il Tempo. I have covered international politics, developing hundreds of contacts in institutional, business and financial circles, but my greatest passion lies in human stories behind political facts and events. This is why I have always cherished the work of international non-profit organizations, taking part firsthand in their work in highly complicated human contexts. One project I am particularly proud of is my book-interview (thesis for LUISS Journalism School in Rome, attended with a 50% scholarship) I wrote with the last living Auschwitz survivor in Italy, the iconic poet and writer Edith Bruck. Thanks to this work, which I recounted in detail in the autobiographical essay I had to write to be admitted to Columbia Journalism School in New York, I was awarded a full scholarship to attend the Master of Arts program.
