Litigation & Dispute Resolution; Corporate Law, Latin American Practice Group.While at Proskauer's Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department, I was part of the team that successfully defended PepsiCo Inc. from a $525 million USD lawsuit filed by Compañía Embotelladora del Pacifico S.A. As one of the lead associates on the case, I was responsible for:- Financial analysis of the claimant entities and the Peruvian soft-drink market structure; - Legal research and state, federal, and international caselaw analysis; - Preparing expert reports on transshipment, antitrust and marketing issues; - Supporting international discovery and deposition proceedings; and, - Reviewing, analyzing and selecting documents for use as intended trial exhibits. As a member of the Corporate Department's Latin American Practice Group, I worked on several transactions, including an amendment to a $350 million USD revolving credit agreement for Pacific Rubiales, the issuance of $80 million USD of senior unsecured silver-linked notes by Gran Colombia Gold, and the legal structuring of venture capital rounds of financing for start-up companies.

At Akiris, the main project I worked on involved structuring and executing a negotiation and stakeholder engagement strategy for the Ports of Buenaventura and Santa Marta in view of upcoming USD $142 million and $32 million, 20-year concession contract extension bids. My responsibilities included mapping stakeholder groups' interests and positions, research and risk assessment, conducting due diligence with Ports' counsel to resolve contractual disputes, and drafting portions of the concession extension proposal presented to the Government.
