I work with corporate clients on measuring and minimizing their environmental impact. I also support clients in the food industry to reduce and responsibly manage their surplus food by analyzing waste data and engaging with NGOs and industry leaders. My areas of expertise include waste measurement, diversion and recovery; life cycle assessments; data management; and sustainability strategy.

I help food companies build and execute their food waste reduction strategies and extract actionable insights from their waste data. From partnering with Compass Group and Unilever to launch the first-ever Stop Food Waste Day to digging through waste streams to conduct waste audits, my priority is to support companies in understanding their waste streams and translate those observations into programming that embeds waste minimization into their cultures. I also build partnerships with organizations that recover surplus food, and help companies raise internal awareness about food waste.

My cofounders and I took Food Recovery Network from an idea to a national nonprofit with programming at 192 college campuses in 43 states and a growing team of 15 full time staff. Food Recovery Network unites students at colleges across America to fight food waste and hunger by recovering surplus food that would otherwise go to waste and donating it to people in need. FRN is continuing to shift the food industry norm from food waste to food recovery.

As part of my Global Semester in Science Policy program at UMD I served the STAS Office as robotics expert and assisted the Office in advancing the role of STEM in government and international diplomacy. I authored an emerging technology cable and information memo for Undersecretary Catherine Novelli. I also supported the Office's work on STEM in the Sustainable Development Goals and Post-2015 Agenda, and wrote talking points for the Acting STAS on the importance of women and POC in STEM, innovation and entrepreneurship as tools for development, and the importance of science and technology in international collaboration.

Bursa, Turkey

I collaborated with Turkish and American researchers on field and lab experiments studying solitary bee diversity and the impact of neonicotinoid exposure on honeybees. I helped develop and execute experiments assessing the proteonomic-, behavioral-, and population-level impacts of human activity on bees. I collected and processed insects, including species-level sorting of over 500 specimen, and presented two posters on my research at 2014 Meeting for the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology.

College Park, Md

I gathered and analyzed data reflecting sexual selection behavior among Australian Satin Bowerbirds by scoring video footage and analyzing the results using principal component analysis in R.

I planned and led a two-week trip for student participants to meet with community partners in Port-au-Prince and Dezam, Haiti. I led weekly pre-trip meetings on international development in Haiti, addressing privilege in responsible service and examining structural challenges that affect persistent global inequality.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

I led and organized 30 volunteers in connecting clients to local resources to address the social determinants of their health. I designed and led two-hour weekly meetings for volunteers to get support on their cases, reflect on their experiences, and learn about the health field. I also conducted client intakes and weekly follow-ups at Children's National Medical Center, supporting clients in applying to welfare programs and connecting to resources to address their food, job training, housing, child care, and other needs.
