This multifaceted Board reviews applications, provides licensure for, and regulatory oversight of seven separate board regulated professions to include: all seventeen branches of professional engineers, architects, geologists, landscape architects, land surveyors, home inspectors, and commercial alarm agents. Board members are appointed by the Governor, and make qualification determinations for licensure and endorsement certification(s). The Board accepts and investigates complaints from the public alleging standards of practice violations, and works to create practice and policy statements for public guidance related to health, safety, and welfare issues. The board’s objective begins and ends with the responsibility of protecting the public. The board also provides oversight related to initiating legislative affairs, approves final candidate licensure, hears testimony and complaint allegations, review’s evidence and makes informed determinations based on findings of fact and conclusions of law. Board members make conduct determinations and implement non-disciplinary, disciplinary, monetary fines, and corrective actions based on evidentiary determinations and factual conclusions. State board members coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, legal representatives, and with respective national practice boards and associations regarding board responsibilities. Each board is represented by the Office of the Attorney General to seek legal guidance and precedent, implement orders, practice restrictions, public safety notices, actions, and consent decrees at board direction. When applicable, the board will refer potential criminal matters for prosecutorial review as defined within the Arizona Revised Statutes. Members also oversee executive functions, & direct operational / risk management functions throughout the division. Board members oversee the employment, professional development, and evaluation of board executive staff, to include budget oversight.
