During my Ph.D I have been investigating antibiotic resistance in the human pathogen Staphylococcus aureus. During that time I have worked on a transposon-insertion library, identifying novel mechanisms by which this pathogen can develop increased levels of resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics. Using a range of culture-based and genetic techniques I have been elucidating the mechanisms behind the altered resistance levels of several single-knockout mutants. My work has given my an appreciation of the complexities of bacterial systems from a theoretical perspective, as well as a solid foundation in many skills required for fundamental research.

Part of my job was also to serve customers in-store and help them with any issue they have.
