I use my SEO, newsletter, analytics and social media skills to both reach and further develop the audience for McClatchy's California newspapers - The Sacramento Bee, The Fresno Bee, The Modesto Bee, The San Luis Obispo Tribune, and The Merced Sun-Star.My responsibilities include working with reporters and editors on headlines and SEO to ensure the content is reaching our digital audience and studying analytics to determine what content our audience wants. I create and edit daily newsletters for all five California McClatchy sites, focusing on politics, breaking news, local news and coronavirus updates. Additionally, I work to send push notifications when breaking news occurs. I also manage our social media sites and format our content to post on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.

I served as president of Sacramento State's chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Here, I created opportunities for students to network with journalists across Sacramento and within the college, including hosting virtual and in-person events. I also managed our club's social media and met with campus and organization officials to coordinate events and operations.

I worked as the news editor for Sacramento State's student newspaper, The State Hornet. In this role, I managed a team of 10-15 staff writers and coordinated coverage for approximately 10 articles per week regarding local politics and elections, COVID-19, crime, racism, diversity, higher education, breaking news and investigative stories. I edited these stories to meet our paper's standards and ensured the content was optimized for social media with engaging headlines and keywords to ensure it is easily found on search engines.

As Politico's California Editorial intern, I was responsible for gathering, reporting and writing content regarding California politics for the daily California Playbook newsletter, including topics such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2021 gubernatorial recall election. I worked to gather news from the newspaper and around the state and summarize article’s contents in the newsletter, as well as working with the rest of the team to coordinate the composition of newsletter and coverage of events in the Sacramento area.
