Through this position I assist with maintaining a large piece of software, raising issues, bugfixing and developing new features.As part of this I have been required to expand my knowledge of JavaScript and Git, and learn how to use PHP and database tools.This is also the first time I've been involved in a commercial management system using Ansible, learning how to use Kanban boards and Git integration to raise issues, create branches, document and more.

For the latter half of the first semester, I assisted with two modules being taught at UWE Bristol:Graphic and Web Design for 1st year students.User Experience for 2nd year students.Upon starting my full time job as a Graduate Software Engineer in January, I made the choice to continue with assisting the User Experience class, at least until the academic year ends.I have found this to be a wholly enjoyable experience as it not only allows me to focus on the things I love (creativity and problem solving), but also opened up the opportunity to learn more about how to teach.It also gave me the opportunity to better keep up to date with UX trends and dust off some lesser used web design skills.As someone who deals with anxiety, it has proven to be very helpful with boosting my confidence and provides a nice change of pace part way through the week to keep my working life more interesting.

During this role, I worked alongside a colleague to design and develop a digital trails webapp using JavaScript, HTML and CSS.I tailored the website styling system to match the client's existing website and produced extensive software documentation so that the client could continue to add to their site upon handover.

As part of this UX design project I came up with an idea for an app promoting healthy sleep. Data was collected via interviews and ideation followed a period of thematic analysis. The app itself was prototyped to a high-fidelity standard using Figma.
