I conducted research in Dr. Florence Hofman's lab, investigating the effects of NEO100 (a glioblastoma chemotherapy drug) on glioma stem cells. Roles included cell culture, cell treatment, fluorescence microscopy, and literature reviews. Findings culminated in a poster presentation at the Keck School of Medicine. Additionally, as an intern I had the opportunity to shadow physicians at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles, attended weekly seminars on physiology, ethics, health disparities, biostatistics from various faculty and health professionals at the school.

Worked in three different research studies; assisted Dr. Tomislav Zbozinek in two of his human fear conditioning studies that were focused on the role of positive mood during extinction on inhibitory learning and fear reduction. I independently ran assessments on students, utilizing electrodes and software to monitor participant's psychophysiological responses to fear inducing stimuli (shock) and extinction techniques. I also extracted psychophysiological data into data for statistical analysis using Acqknowledge software and performed literature searches. Also worked under Dr. Michelle Craske, Dr. Tomislav Zbozinek, and Dr. Shula Green in the Autism Sensory Over Responsivity study, investigating how neural and physiological responses of children with autism spectrum disorder and sensory over-responsivity compare to typically developing children and anxious children. I ran assessments on children, managing electrodes and software to measure their psychophysiological responses and extracted psychophysiological data into data for statistical analysis.

I worked with Dr. Deborah Taira and designed a research projecting studying the disability status of Native Hawaiians and Caucasians across the U.S. For this project I performed literature reviews, reviewed data from a large national survey, analyzed data using R studio, and prepared and presented a final poster of findings. Other intern duties included attending research and medical education lectures, informal talks, professional seminars, and partaking in culturally enriching activities.
