IBHS is an engineering and communications organization dedicated to reducing property damage due to natural and man-made disasters. As the director of public affairs, my primary responsibilities include managing digital media, third-party outreach and presentations, and writing and editing. Our team produces content for online and print publications; the IBHS website, www.disastersafety.org; and research reports based on scientific laboratory studies at the IBHS Research Center and post-disaster field investigations. My professional experience revolves around connecting with people through writing and other forms of communication. I use my communication skills to empower people by providing them with tools they can use to safeguard their families, properties and livelihoods.
