Now working in nonprofit leadership for the past 15 years, I am an executive director for a nonprofit that focuses on community education and outreach on sustainability, science literacy, food security, innovation, natural energy and ocean conservation. Formerly, a biologist (once a biologist, always a biologist) with over 25 years of experience working in conservation with nonprofits in a leadership capacity. My focus now in nonprofit management/leadership is grant writing, board development, community outreach, fundraising, program development and execution , volunteer coordination, event planning, website design and maintenance, social media, marketing/advertising, conservation, environmental stewardship and developing positive community liaisons and partnerships. Now, in the Covid-19 era, working on producing distance learning and community outreach programming via zoom and other remote platforms. I also freelance as a grant writer on the side.My previous work was with endangered species recovery; captive rearing/breeding programs, various reintroduction programs, follow-up population assessments, habitat restoration, habitat assessments, prey assessments, capacity building and coordinating teams/programs. Executed the very first captive rearing and reintroduction of the federally endangered Karner blue butterfly, and subsequently came up with captive rearing protocols for other organizations to do the same for Karners and other species. Founding member of the AZA’s Butterfly Conservation Working Group, and an AZA SSP studbook keeper for the endangered Virgin Islands boa and Mona Island boa. I am highly skilled at radio telemetry for reptiles, amphibians and mammals throughout the West Indies. Also, have vast experience working with a variety of taxa; insects, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, plants, habitat restoration and coral reef systems. I have a passion for the preservation of biodiversity of the world's ecosystems, with special emphasis in island ecosystems and island biodiversity.I am always interested in challenging positions or serving on nonprofit boards within the community, where I can be a leader, allowing for growth and a chance to apply and contribute my education and work andvolunteer experience to make a positive difference. I enjoy promoting conservation values in preserving biodiversity, and educating others to do likewise. I have extensive experience working abroad with diverse cultures and backgrounds throughout the West Indies, Japan and Southeast Asia, and now expanding that knowledge to the Pacific islands.
